The role of the new Swedish-ESO Submillimeter Telescope (SEST) in the study of the southern sky is examined. The types of molecular emissions which can be detected by SEST are described and their application to the planned study of the star-formation centers in the Chameleon is addressed. The dense cores and bipolar flows in that constellation are discussed.
