We report the detection and mapping of methane on Mars and present its development with season [1,2]. The measurements were performed using long-slit infrared spectrometers: CSHELL (Cryogenic Echelle Spectrograph) at NASA-IRTF (Infrared Telescope Facility) and NIRSPEC (Near Infrared Spectrograph) at Keck-2.
