Collisionless reconnection in Jupiter's magnetotail is quantitatively
studied for the first time. It is proposed that the same tearing
mechanism which works in the earth magnetotail also works in Jupiter's.
It is shown that collisionless reconnection may occur around 60 R(J)
downtail.
