The ionospheric electron densities at mid-latitudes can either increase or decrease over the evolution of geomagnetic storm. The former condition is called as a positive ionospheric storm, the latter as a negative ionospheric storm. We examine negative ionospheric storms which have been observed by Global Positioning System (GPS) and ionosonde measurements during the period of 2000~2008 in Korea. The dataset of GPS Total Electron Content (TEC) and the peak electron density (NmF2) in F-region from an ionosonde at Anyang (37.4°N, 127.0°E, Geomag=27.7°N, 196.9°E) are classified with season, local time, solar and geomagnetic activities, and then are averaged with local time. The ionospheric storms in our analysis are investigated in two aspects (1) geomagnetic activities with Kp and Dst indices (2) ionospheric scintillation with GPS L band S4 index. We will discuss the ionospheric storms which occurred during the period of the Halloween event between 28~31 October 2003 in Korea.
