The assumption that the full ve neutronisation pulse has been seen at Kamiokande implies the absence of matter induced conversions of ve into vμ or vτ. In this way it is possible to constrain neutrino masses to <~ 7 X 10-2 eV, if they should have mixing angles bigger than sin22θ>~10-4. Also an agreement of the observed energies and detected flux of the thermal ve with the conven tional expectations would give similar bounds or simply would indicate that ve corresponds to the lightest mass eigenstate. A remark on the Mont Blanc detection is added.
