An analytical one-zone model (shell source) shows complex secular modes
if perturbations of chemical abundances are included. Very short periods
can be calculated by choosing physically reasonable sets of parameters.
Complex eigenvalues with unstable real parts may be regarded as thermal
instabilities with high-frequency amplitude modulation.
