The age of the LMC red globular cluster NGC 1651 is estimated as 2.0 ± 0.8 x 109 yr by photometry of the main-sequence turnoff. The accuracy of the estimate is limited chiefly by uncertainty in the distance modulus of the cluster. At (m - M)0 = 18.2 the cluster age is 2.5 ± 0.5 Gyr; at (m - M)0 = 18.7 it is 1.6 ± 0.4 Gyr. Here the uncertainties stem from a metallicity estimate of one-third solar abundance and from uncertainties relating to the effects of convective overshooting on stellar evolution.
