The stability of the nonlinear nonoscillating solution of the alpha-omega disk dynamo is investigated analytically for various forms of alpha(B) instability, where alpha is the mean helicity and B is the mean magnetic field. Over a wide range of dynamo numbers, the nonoscillating solution with the highest growth rate at the nonlinear stage is shown to be stable. The stability characteristics depend qualitatively on whether alpha becomes zero as a function of B or not.
