We present here experimental evidence of the filling in of Fraunhofer
lines at 5893 and 7699 A by scattering from terrestrial surfaces. This
effect is shown to vary with the scattering angle and with the nature of
the surfaces involved. Consequences on dayglow data and on lunar
luminescence studies will be considered in future publications.
