The magnetic field in the earth's mantle is parameterized according to depth measurements dependent of electrical conductivity and an approximation scheme in which the electromagnetic time constant of the mantle is assumed to be small compared to the time scales of the secular variation. Induced currents and fields in the approximation are obtained iteratively, and the results are given in a table. Some of the important differences between the derived parameters and other theoretical models of the magnetic field of the mantle are discussed in detail.
