The GOLF (Global Oscillations at Low Frequencies) investigation on board the SOHO satellite is an improved version of ground based instruments using the resonant-scattering spectrometric technique to measure global velocities of the Sun and stars. It has the capability of a 4 points measurement in the line profile for both the global velocity and magnetic field measurements.
