The results of a correlation investigation between the polarimetric and photometric characteristics of a sample of Herbig Ae/Be, FU Orionis and T Tauri-type young stars are given. It is shown that a common dependence between polarization (in the R band) and infrared excesses exists for 80% of the stars. A comparison is made between stellar ages and polarization. The idea of the system "young star - circumstellar evelope" is developed. It is shown that other types of stars, which have infrared excesses and polarization (Be stars and red giants) do not follow the dependence derived for young stars on the lg p/(V-L)* diagram.
