The small-scale vertical and horizontal velocities of different layers in the solar atmosphere were measured using spectrograms with absorption lines of different strength. A model of the vertical and horizontal velocities was obtained with the method of velocity weighting functions. The vertical and horizontal velocities of convective origin decrease up to a height of 150 km and 200 km respectively. Above this level they increase with different slope. The results infer the existence of a secondary velocity field at higher photospheric levels induced by convective motions.
