Scientific paper

Electric heating of the solar corona is discussed. Mechanisms of MHD wave dissipation in strong horizontal gradients of the Alfven velocity, and turbulence associated dissipation are considered. The evolution of dc coronal currents in the presence of active magnetic reconnection is examined. The interest of considering the existence of approximate global invariants associated with such phenomena is stressed.
