Several scientific instruments, including gas-discharge, semiconductor, and Cerenkov counters, were used on board Mars 7 to study solar cosmic rays. The present paper discusses data on particle fluxes obtained by Mars 7 before, during, and after the solar flare of September 7, 1973. The fluxes were characterized by a long-duration negative anisotropy. The main particle flux in the flare moved out from the sun south of the solar equatorial plane and intersected this plane somewhere near Mars or beyond.
