A unified theory regarding the extremum conditions for Mayer type problems is presented, considering the transfer from Lagrangian points of the earth-moon system. The problem, that includes the analysis of the optimal trajectory that determines a final maximum velocity in a given time, may be generalized to also cover the final maximum distance. A verifying method for the sign variation of the second order of the functional fulfilling the necessary conditions for the Weierstrass case is discussed.
