We examine the recent suggestion by Falk and Schramm that heavy neutrinos with the right mass and the right radiative lifetime may cause the supernova explosion. It is shown that if leptons and quarks are composite and their excited states exist, excited neutrinos are shown to satisfy the desired mass-lifetime relation. The mass range of such excited neutrinos between order of eV and about 10 MeV is disallowed by cosmological constraints.
