In this note we point out that if solar neutrinos oscillate to give
large probabilities to be in a ν¯e state at Earth,
then, contrary to what is naively expected, there will be no large
enhancement in the number of events in water Cherenkov detectors. This
is shown to be a consequence of the detectors energy threshold.
