Simultaneous measurements of solar emission bursts and variations in the neutral gas glow in the heliosphere are suggested as a way to derive the neutral atom number density distribution along the line-of-sight. The magnitude and occurrence frequency of solar flares in EUV are studied using the relation between EUV flare emission enhancement and apparent solar flare area in H-alpha. Analytical expressions are obtained for glow temporal variations for several model number density distributions. A space experiment using a radar-like remote probing technique is proposed to study the neutral gas characteristics inside the heliosphere.
