The problem of missing mass (dark matter) in the universe is considered in view of the possible existence of weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs). The classification of these particles is given, their interaction with material, methods for their registration and methods for identification of useful events are considered. Interactions of WIMPs with various media are estimated. A review is given of previous and planned experiments.
