Typical patterns of midlatitude ionospheric disturbances and their horizontal traveling characteristics are presented. Data were obtained from the MU radar multiple beam observations of the incoherent scatter power profile. It is concluded that isolated disturbances travel primarily southward in disturbed conditions, while no preferred direction is observed in quiet conditions.
