An expression is obtained which relates the Dst-variation amplitude to the L value at the maximum of the electron-injection zone during magnetic storms: /Dst/max = 2.75 x 10 to the 4th/L exp 4(max). The expression is derived on the basis of data for electrons with energies of 0.8-3.6 MeV and greater than 15 MeV. It is noted that this relationship is an important characteristic of particle injection processes in the magnetosphere during magnetospheric disturbances; it determines the relationship between Dst-variation amplitude and the location of various structural formations in the magnetospehre.
