In the close binary system Her X-1/HZ Her, the structure of the HZ Her atmosphere is complicated due to X-ray heating. The nonspherically symmetric structure of HZ Her atmosphere is examined. The temperature and ionization contours for the atmosphere with exponential density distribution are calculated. The position and physical properties of chromosphere, transition layer, and corona, along different radial lines, are described. The eclipse transition data of this system are analyzed in detail, and the density distribution for different layers along the radial line perpendicular to the sight line is obtained. This distribution agrees with the theory very well.
