The heliomagnetic latitude of the earth over the 1976-1984 period has been determined based on measurements of the heliospheric neutral sheet. A radial expansion of the solar wind is assumed. Correlations of heliomagnetic latitude with the cosmic ray flux are made for the periods before and after the last reversal of the solar magnetic field, confirming the existence of negative latitudinal gradients. Differences noted during the two periods are explained in terms of a north-south asymmetry in solar activity.
