Gravitational Radiation: Interferometers

Scientific paper

The authors analyze the formation of polarization-squeezed light with a suppressed level of fluctuations of one of the Stokes polarization parameter at the output of a Mach-Zehnder interferometer with nonlinear optical fibres in two arms. The process also results in a possibility of carrying out precise polarization phase measurements by Mach-Zehnder and/or Michelson interferometers. The best accuracy of measurement can be achieved when polarization-squeezed light is present at the input of the measuring system. The authors also discuss an experimental setup with polarization-squeezed light for precise gravitational radiation detection using a Michelson interferometer.
