An analysis of observational data shows a dependence of phase velocity on the period of a certain type of magnetoionospheric wave disturbance, i.e., fluctuations of ionospheric electron density and geomagnetic field in the period range from tens of seconds to tens of minutes, propagating along the earth's surface with velocities of the order of 1-10 km/s. This dependence indicates that phase velocity decreases with increasing period. Gyrotropic waves in the lower ionosphere exhibit an analogous dependence.
