We present BV observations of the eclipsing binary star EROS 1017 located in the bar of the Large Magellanic Cloud. We have determined times of minimum light for EROS 1017 and derived an accurate period with six significant decimal places using an extended time baseline that combines EROS, OGLE, and our own observations. The shape of the light curve of EROS 1017 is half way between Algol type and β Lyr type. Our BV light curves of EROS 1017, observed in 2003, have been analysed with the 1993 version of the Wilson and Devinney differential corrections code. The absolute dimensions have been estimated by adopting a distance to EROS 1017 of 47.5 kpc.
