On April 14, 1973, the MSSL 2.5-7.5 keV X-ray detector on board the Copernicus satellite detected a periodicity of 7.90 min in the flux from the region near 2U1727-33 with an average modulation amplitude of about 23 percent of the mean flux. In one orbit of the Ariel V satellite in March, 1976, the experiment C detector revealed a significant periodicity in the X-ray flux from the same region with a period of 73.1 sec, which corresponds to one of the possible aliases to the 7.90 min periodicity observed by Copernicus. The mean amplitude of modulation was about 14 percent. Two explanations are offered: (1) The 1973 Copernicus periodicity originated from a regularly pulsating source, either a transient source or one whose amplitude of modulation is variable. (2) The modulation seen in 1973 resulted from a periodic sequence of bursts from a burst source in the field of view.
