The Community Coordinated Modeling Center (CCMC) is a US multi-agency activity aimed at the transition of candidate space weather models from research to agencies with operational responsibilities. In addition, the CCMC provides to researchers access to state-of-the art space science models. In order to address the former objective, the CCMC employs a number of strategies, which include the following. First, the CCMC endeavors to accept, from the research community, models with space weather potential. In close collaboration with the model source, these models are implemented and subjected to initial testing. Second, the CCMC works with both research and operational communities on the establishment of metrics standards suitable for model evaluations. The CCMC then acts as an independent entity in the evaluations of models under these standards. Third, the CCMC subjects models to science-based validations. Finally, the CCMC collaborates closely with the Rapid Prototyping Centers at NOAA and the Air Force to effect the transition of evaluated models to operations. In this presentation, we will present an overview of CCMC activities in these areas, as well as a discussion of future plans.
