How Venus has resurfaced is an important constraint for models of the evolution of that planet, including its climate history. We have assessed the sources and styles of resurfacing in the eight venusian quadrangles that we are mapping under the Planetary Geology Mapping Program. Two of the quadrangles are along rifts (V28 and V39), three are at hotspot rises (V53, V30 and V31) and three are in the plains (V19, V33 and V46). We classified surface areas as: corona-related flows; rift-related flows; edifice fields; flows associated with edifices 10-100 km diameter; flows associated with volcanoes >100 km in diameter; plains/flows with no identifiable source; structure or craters; or data gaps. We find that the different types of regions on Venus have distinct differences in the sources and scales of their resurfacing. These results can be used, along with stratigraphic information, to help constrain models of the evolution of the Venus surface.
