The proton temperature data from the Helios 1 and Helios 2 primary missions (1975-1976) have been analyzed to establish spectral characteristics of temperature fluctuations in the inner solar wind and their relation to the large-scale morphology of the stream structure. It is found that the temperature spectra in high- and low-speed winds are very different. In the LF range (0.00002-0.0003 Hz), the spectral slopes obtained from least-squares fits are near to -5/3 (with large standard deviations) for different solar wind velocities, whereby the observed spectrum densities are higher in low-speed than in high-speed wind. In the HF range (0.0005-0.002 Hz), the absolute values of the slopes are found to decrease with increasing solar wind velocities. Possible mechanisms for the generation of temperature fluctuations in the solar wind are discussed.
