The VLA has been used to observe NGC 6946's radio continuum emission at 18.0 and 20.5 cm in total power and linear polarization. Faraday rotation between these two wavelengths shows no periodic variation with azimuthal angle; the orientation of uniform magnetic field lines in the upper disk closely follow the optical spiral arms, and the smallest and largest pitch angles are found in the interarm regions. A model of the interaction between the magnetic fields and gas clouds is presented.
