SZ Piscium and RT Lacertae are two RS CVn systems which have displayed evidence for gas streams in the visible. They are both very likely only semi-detached binaries and both exhibit several characteristics common to Algol type systems known to have gas streams and/or disks. It is here proposed to observe these two stars during eclipses in the long wavelength region at high resolution. It is expected that any gas streams will show as asymmetries or high velocity components in the resonance lines of magnesium and iron. These spectra will answer three important questions. First and foremost they will determine whether circumstellar gas is present. Secondly, if such gas is -present, they will allow us to assess its contribution to the observed stellar activity. Lastly, we will be able to explore the regime of occurrence of gas streaming as well as to better constrain the physical conditions present.
