We conducted spectroscopic studies of both components of the visual binary HR 1847 to determine its basic physical and orbital parameters. New observations of this system were obtained using the Ondřejov and Rozhen 2-m telescopes. Radial velocities were measured using the individual spectra and then analysed using the FOTEL code to determine orbital parameters. We present the first solution of the spectroscopic orbit of HR 1847A. HR 1847A is a single-lined spectroscopic binary with a B-type primary, with a possible period of 719.79 days and an eccentric orbit. We determined an effective temperature, surface gravity and rotational velocity of both components by comparing echelle spectra, that cover the optical and near-IR regions, to theoretical spectra.
