The post-newtonian approximations of a Poincaré gauge theory of gravitation, recently proposed by Hehl et al., are shown to agree with Einstein's theory to fourth order. In addition, Einstein's quadrupole formula for the gravitational radiation holds in a naive linearized approximation. Hence, the theory is not only in agreement with solar system tests, but is also consistent with recent observations of the binary pulsar 1913 + 16.
