The equations for the structure of spherical stars with given entropy distribution are derived explicitly. The role of the entropy as a parameter for stellar structure is discussed. Linearized equations are used to describe the influence of small changes of the parameters (mass, run of entropy and composition) and offer a simple criterion for the dynamical stability of stellar models in terms of infinitesimal mass changes.
