Methods are analyzed for solving problems which arise in the determination of a family of satellite-launching rockets best suited for a specific space program. Some of these problems are formulated in terms of integer programming, and dynamic-programming algorithms for solving the problems are proposed. The algorithms are well-suited for use in automated designing.
