The paper discusses the observations of nonmagnetic polarization across
the solar Ca II H-K and Na I D1-D2 lines. The event is explained in
terms of quantum-mechanical interference between the scattering
amplitudes of the two transitions: j = 1/2 - 1/2 (H and D1) and 1/2 -
3/2 (K and D2).
