The possibility of inflation taking place in a closed universe which admits the creation of matter is discussed. It is found that a nonconservative ansatz with matter in the form of ultrarelativistic particles and false vacuum leads to inflation for all spatial topologies provided the creation parameter is not too large. It is demonstrated that, if creation becomes dominant, inflation does not result for any of the spatial topologies.
