We discuss the cosmological implications of monopoles which have multiple units of Dirac charge, are relatively light compared with the grand unified mass scale, and which do not catalyze nucleon decay. Combined with the inflationary universe scenario, though admittedly model-dependent, we find that monopole condensation can occur during the inflationary stage and these monopoles can excite the magnetic current on large spatial scales and give rise to primordial magnetic fields of appreciable strength. We also find that the present density of residual monopoles can be such that it gives a flux which is just below the bound based on the persistence of the galactic magnetic field.
