Even in cases of nearly homogeneous strain on the sample scale, analysis of anisotropy differences in numerous specimens close together in the same sample permits the separation of the magnetic fabrics related to the ferrimagnetic minerals and their matrix. Application of this method to the study of the structure of the Egletons granite illustrates the potential use of this matrix fabric for structural analysis. The anisotropy of the matrix, in fact, reflects two different structures: the first is related to magma emplacement and underlines the funnel shape of the massif, and the second shows the effects of a WNW-ESE compression.
