The present analysis deals with the problem of the relationship between the structure of the disturbed ionosphere and the structure of the field of mid-latitude magnetospheric disturbances caused by magnetospheric convection. The effectiveness of convective transport processes is assessed. The distortion of the structure of the mid-latitude ionosphere by convection associated with Sq and SD variations is demonstrated by examples.
