The latitude variation of radio-satellite scintillation, and hence of small-scale ionospheric irregularities, is described. Records are available for a chain of southern-hemisphere stations, and also for a shipboard station. Analysis shows a weak maximum in irregularity near 35°S invariant latitude, minimum irregularity near 45°S and a strong increase toward higher latitudes.
