The three-dimensional perturbation of the magnetospheric plasma under
the impingement of a weak plane solar-wind pressure inhomogeneity on the
magnetopause was examined in the MHD approximation. The configuration of
the initial magnetosphere and the geomagnetic field was selected on the
basis of the Mead and Beard analyses.
