Data on cosmogenic nuclides in lunar samples have been used to estimate
cosmic ray variations in the past. Analysis of Al-26 and Mn-53 in lunar
rocks has shown that the intensity of solar cosmic rays has been
constant for the last 10 million years, while the intensity of galactic
cosmic rays increased by 45% between 2 and 10 million years ago.
