Carbon monosulfide (CS) may be formed in the atmosphere by oxidation of
CS2. It is proposed that subsequent reaction of CS with known
atmospheric species might lead to the production of OCS in addition to
that of SO2. Various possibilities whereby the atmospheric OCS content
may be maintained by oxidation of CS are discussed.
