A crystallization age of about 1375 m.y., with initial Nd6143/Nd144 and Sr-87/Sr-86 ratios of 0.51057 and 0.7040, respectively, are suggested by combined Sm-Nd and Rb-Sr systematics in two gabbroic intrusions of the Shabogamo Intrusive Suite in western Labrador. Rb-Sr systematics are found to be less reliable than Sm/Nd, perhaps due to the deuteric and low-grade regional metabolism of Rb. It is found that although Sm-Nd systematics in WLC-1 gabbros are indistinguishable from systematics in the low-grade gabbros and indicate that the Sm-Nd system has remained closed on a whole-rock scale during the amphibolite-grade metabolism, samples from WLC-2 have been displaced to lower Sm/Nd ratios, possibly indicating the breakdown of garnet during a retrograde phase of the metamorphism.
