The interstellar reddening across the starburst galaxy II Zw 40 and the electron temperature and abundances at 24 points in the main H II complex were measured via low-dispersion optical spectroscopy of the bright core in II Zw 40. The map of the interstellar reddening, derived from the H-alpha/H-beta map, reveals the high dust content of the galaxy; variations in extinction are also observed, with the highest values of A(V) located in the northern part, and decreasing values to the south. Maps of O/H, NB/H, Ne/H, and He/H are derived. The behavior of Ne/H, N/O, and O/H is discussed in terms of possible fluctuations of abundance. The anticorrelation between N/O and O/H found for similar mapping of the starburst galaxy NGC 5253 also occurs in II Zw 40.
