A brief review on the current status of cosmic microwave background researches is presented. First, a description of its discovery and nature is given and, then, its importance in Cosmology is pointed out. COBE and WMAP satellite observations are considered. The main information obtained from these space experiments is analyzed. Perspectives on the field are outlined.
