The supersonic flow of a stellar wind past an X-ray source is considered. A qualitative analogy between the supersonic flow past nonporous bodies and radiation sources leads to the hypothesis that a shock wave that does not intersect the symmetry axis can arise in the case of a low energy emission power. Conditions under which this can occur are described, and a quantitative analogy between the supersonic flow past thin bodies and radiation sources is established. Also determined is the flow region where this analogy does not hold.
